Advertising: Philips and Apple
January 15th, 2007
Advertising can be one of the most controversial aspects of online (and offline) publishing, as well being the main revenue source for most publications. At idiomag we want to only display adverts that are interesting, of high quality, and relevant. By this we mean that they do not spread themselves over the content you are reading, they are actually quite pretty/quirky/clever, and they are about products and services that you might actually buy.
We ran 2 test campaigns over Christmas with Apple and Philips, and if you were lucky enough to see them, we want to know what you think! Please do drop me an email with your thoughts.
Happy New Year
January 6th, 2007
So here is the obligatory post to wish you all a happy and prosperous 2007. Not that we offer our wishes begrudgingly, but the sentiment seems a little trite when the world and his wife copies it into every email, blog post and webpage. Having said that, we do hope you have a great 2007!
We have a beta userbase of around 1300 readers now, and its great to hear all of your feedback and suggestions. We also have 25 content providers (and more every week) and you have probably noticed that both Philips and Apple have used idiomag for test advertising campaigns. We have been working hard and have now pretty much finished the new back-end - so just the pretty stuff to do now…
As our favourite black-and-white, yeast-based beverage continually reminds us, good things come to those who wait.

Advertisers and stuff…

It’s all getting rather exciting here, we have had great talks with some of the biggest names in advertising, and they love the idiomag concept! Hopefully they will put their money where their (not inconsiderable) mouths are when we launch…
